Verjuice is closed source. It works by orchestrating open-source runtimes, which remain under their own licenses and are the work of their respective authors. This page lists them and how Verjuice uses each one.
Components
- Wine — LGPL-2.1-or-later. Runs Windows applications on Linux and macOS.
- Proton — LGPL-2.1-or-later (with components under other licenses). Runs Windows applications on Linux, including DirectX translation.
- DXVK — zlib. Translates Direct3D 9/10/11 to Vulkan.
- VKD3D-Proton — LGPL-2.1-or-later. Translates Direct3D 12 to Vulkan.
- MoltenVK — Apache-2.0. Translates Vulkan to Metal on macOS.
- Whisky — GPL-3.0. Invoked as a separate command-line tool on macOS. Verjuice does not link against or redistribute Whisky's code.
Apple D3DMetal
D3DMetal is proprietary software owned by Apple. Verjuice does not bundle, redistribute or modify it. Where it is already present on your Mac, Verjuice may use it to run DirectX 12 titles. You are responsible for complying with Apple's terms for that component.
Source code and license texts
Where a Verjuice build redistributes one of the components above, the corresponding license text and a pointer to the exact upstream source are included in the release archive under licenses/. If you need a copy and cannot find it, email support@verjuice.app.
