About
Unripe, precise
Verjuice is the juice of unripe grapes: sharp, green, clean. The name fits a tool whose whole job is to be exact — to tell you what will run, and to say plainly when something won't.
What it is
A compatibility orchestrator for Windows apps on Apple Silicon Macs. It looks at your hardware and at the app, picks a pipeline that already works for setups like yours, and launches it — without making you hand-configure Wine.
The scope rule
Verjuice launches apps through the store clients and runtimes you already have. It does not bypass DRM, circumvent store activation, or redistribute proprietary binaries. Titles whose DRM or kernel anti-cheat blocks translation layers are recorded as refusals with a cited reason — never patched, never worked around. That rule is not a limitation bolted on at the end; it is the reason the project can exist at all.
The walls are the honest half of the database.
Values
- Open source. GPL-3.0-or-later. The source is at MIniSuperSeb/Verjuice.
- Honest. Verdicts carry their sources. Refusals are stated plainly. When there is no evidence, we say so instead of guessing.
- Donation-funded. Free, and always will be. Donations never unlock features — see support.
- Mac-only. Apple Silicon, done properly, rather than every platform done badly.
Standing on
Verjuice is a thin layer over other people's deep work. These projects do the hard part:
- Wine — The original Windows compatibility layer, and still the foundation.
- DXMT — Direct3D translation to Metal on Apple Silicon.
- DXVK — Direct3D 9/10/11 to Vulkan, and the reason most games are playable at all.
- MoltenVK — Vulkan to Metal, the bridge that makes the rest possible on macOS.
- Whisky — A friendly macOS front end for Wine, which Verjuice drives as a separate tool.
